Road Safety Research and Evaluation
RSM continues to collaborate with and investigate the findings of a number of national and International research bodies on Road Safety related issues and topics, and our business objectives allow for significant expansion into this area in the future.
RSM have engaged in Monitoring and evaluation services, which deal with the systematic and ongoing measurement of road safety outputs and outcomes (intermediate and final) and the evaluation of interventions to achieve the desired results.
Our experience in working with Local Authorities has involved monitoring all implemented engineering and Education, Training and Publicity schemes and categorization of results for future programming needs. This can typically be carried out through the estimation of collision savings for each design alternative considered, followed by the calculation of potential collision cost savings through an FYRR.
Ideally the collision savings can be assessed using best practice measures derived through an examination of before and after control data within an area examined (i.e. published before and after data, demonstrating a measurable reduction in collisions post implementation), which highlights the importance of the Monitoring or Evaluation Stage of any Road Safety Programme.
RSMs experience in Cost Benefit Analysis for the purposes of Road Safety Evaluation relates directly to casualty reduction and potential short, medium and long term cost savings arising from a variety of road safety related initiatives and mitigative measures, with a view to optimal expenditure of capital budgets and best rate of return on any investments.
RSMs services include the production of numerous Evaluation and Monitoring reports, in addition to casualty reduction progress reports following implementation of a wide variety of Road Safety Schemes.
