Road Safety Inspection
RSM can provide an Road and Roadworks Safety Inspection in accordance with EU Directive 2008/96/EC and the NRA DMRB HD 17, HA 17 and HA 20, through extensive experience in all Road Safety related fields, and in particular Accident Investigation and Prevention, in combination with site investigation and Road Safety Audit site visits.
Previous experience in the implementation of Collision Prevention Programmes and Danger Reduction Measures enables RSM to accurately identify network characteristics and defects which require maintenance or engineering works for safety remedial reasons. Experience in the use of a variety of risk assessment techniques can also be used in the RSI process.
Our experience in Road Design, Road Safety Education and participation in ongoing Road Safety Research has enabled us to develop an appreciation for the critical design elements on a road alignment, the combination of which can give rise to higher collision rates. Our knowledge of horizontal and vertical alignment and geometry, appropriate radii sequences, appropriate transitions, cross sectional consistency, intersection spacings, visibility, superelevation, camber, crossfall, appropriate lining and signing, boundary treatments and vehicle restraint systems in the context of clear zones and forgiving roadsides can all be called upon to ensure an accurate and reliable RSI can be provided for each client.
